I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not confident in my science abilities as a homeschool mom, so we jumped at the chance to give Supercharged Science a try with their e-Science Homeschool Science Curriculum.

Features of the program
This is truly a hands-on science program. It is great for our kinaesthetic learners, of course, but it’s beneficial for all our kids! Throw away the dry and boring textbook and let your kids be immersed in experiencing how science actually works.
The e-Science Homeschool Science Curriculum allows you to dive into the content via topics or grade levels. You could use this one program for all your homeschooled kids in grades K-12.
Each unit includes textbook-like readings, dozens of hands-on experiments (complete with video instruction for your visual learners), exercises that you can print, and videos of instruction.
In fact, there are over 800 experiments and activities on this site! And the videos are bite-sized (about 5-20 minutes in length).
This is the best kind of science curriculum if you don’t have the time, passion, or expertise to give your kids an amazing science education – because Aurora does all the teaching and the site is well-organized for optimal use.
Once your kids can read, they really can navigate the site on their own.
I loved the hands-on approach used in this program! And the experiments don’t require crazy materials. You will probably have most of the items in your home already.
Yes, we microwaved a bar of Ivory soap. The plate broke in the process, but we learned how microwaves work!
How We Used It
My fifth grader started using this at the end of his school year, so we decided to approach this program via topics instead of grade level. He jumped into the first unit and spent most of his time here with lessons, experiments, and videos related to force, gravity, and friction.
When we started using this program, I missed that there were student worksheets to go with each of the activities. This is an excellent component of the program if you need written work for a portfolio, plus it gives your students the opportunity to work the scientific method in writing.

Recommendations
This curriculum earned Cathy Duffy’s Top 102 Picks award and we can see why! It’s a great option for hands-on learning that will make science come alive to your science-loving or science-loathing kids.
The program is presented from a creation-neutral point of view, so this would fit in both secular and religious homeschools.
There is a monthly subscription fee, but Supercharged Science does give you access to free sample lessons to see if this program would be a good fit for your family.
Since we were given a full-year of access to try out the e-Science Homeschool Science Curriculum, we will definitely be using this next year for 6th grade. As a homeschool mom with near-zero confidence in my science education capabilities, having access to this program is causing me to jump for joy! One more thing off my plate, but still providing depth of learning and keeping the interest of my student.
