I’m excited to bring you today’s chat with sisters Stefanie Hohl and Meghan Voss. They both hold advanced degrees in education and have experience as teachers in many different formats. And they’ve combined their love of literacy and reading to bring us this great topic about starting a parent-child book club with your homeschool friends.
Of course, the connection you can build with your kids through a book club is one of the best benefits. But as you’ll hear in our conversation on the podcast, there are many other reasons why a book club is valuable. Stefanie Hohl loves to write books for kids! She is the creator of ABC See, Hear, Do, a learn-to-read program for kids that teaches reading through movement. She is also the author of The Remember Tree, Where Is the Star?, and Mother-Daughter Book Club Guide. Stefanie is passionate about discovering better methods for teaching young children and loves to share that knowledge with others. She has a Master’s in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Penn State and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Stefanie lives in Pittsburgh with her husband, five children, two very silly dogs, and two cuddly cats.
Meghan Voss loves reading books, teaching classes, and helping kids write! She earned a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University and a Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Maryland. A former high school English teacher, Meghan has published magazine articles to research-driven blog posts, she’s edited dissertations to picture books, and she currently works as an education manager with a local non-profit organization. When Meghan isn’t geeking out over lit and books, you can find her lifting weights, hiking, and picking fresh huckleberries for homemade pie. Meg lives in northwest Montana with her husband, three children, and the occasional bear that strolls through her backyard.
